Turnpike Comfort Footwear

Turnpike Comfort Footwear was established in 1979 by two men committed to becoming the New York City area’s premier comfort and orthopedic shoe facility. Each of the founding partners brought with them a long history in the shoe business. Jerome Sternberg came from a family of shoe store operators, with stores dating back to the early 1900’s. Ernesto Rueda was a second gereration custom shoe maker serving the Queens area for over 40 years. The experience the two brought to the store made it unlike any other. Clients not only received the attention of one of the most experienced shoe fitters in the city, but also had access to the best custom work available right on the premises. The store was an instant success.
