A woman tried to enter the US by crossing the border from Canada and was seen carrying an arsenal.

A letter poisoned with ‘Ricin’ has been sent to US President Trump by a woman who was also later seen crossing the US-Canada border.

The news was confirmed by the US law enforcement official. The woman was carrying a gun and was arrested by the US authorities in New York.

US prosecutors at Washington DC are expected to levy charges against the woman soon.

The law enforcement has recently intercepted a poisoned letter with Ricin that was attempted to sent to Trump last week. The officials claim that the package arrived from Canada.

One of the key members in the investigation team said that the letter was mailed from Quebec and contained granular substances in the package that resembled ground castor beans.

Two tests have been done on the package and the officials confirmed the presence of Ricin, a poison on it.

All the mails that are sent to the White House will be first scanned at a facility before reaching the President’s abode.

The Canadian Police too is investigating the matter with the FBI and it did not deny or confirm if the woman belonged to Canada.

Later on Sunday, an FBI official confirmed that they have arrested the woman and the investigation would continue.

FBI’s Washington officials said that their team is investigating the suspicious letter sent to the President and confirmed that there is no threat to the public safety at present.

Authorities are also investigating similar packages sent to Texas to find the connection and also to check if the sender is the same.

What is Ricin?

Ricin is a highly poisonous compound that is found in castor beans that have been previously used in terror plots.

The poison can be used in powder form, as pellets, mist, or acid.

If this poison is injected into a person’s body, it would cause nausea, vomiting, internal bleeding of the stomach and intestine, and then causes the failure of the liver, kidneys, spleen ultimately leading to death by collapse of the circulatory system.

According to sources, as little as 500 micrograms of ricin can kill an adult. Moreover, there is no antidote for it and there is no specific test to confirm the exposure.

Ricin can be produced easily and is very cheap to make it. As a poison, Ricin is very effective on individuals than for the usage as the weaponry.
