A Non- Resident Indian from Canada had married a daughter of a slum dweller from Bhadaur town of Barnala district.
Manjit Kaur who is a daughter of a slum dweller is of 36 years of age and had participated in a national- level competition of badminton and had to leave sports due to lack of money for her treatment. Mahinder Singh Bhullar who had learned about the condition of Manjit Kaur through a newspaper in Canada and has decided to marry her.
Mahinder Singh Bhullar of 40 years of age and Manjit Kaur who is 36 years- old have got married on 12th of January and has visited the office of Deputy Commissioner of Barnala for getting registered of their marriage. It is said that Kaur belongs to a poor family where in she does not own a house and lives in a hut where as, Bhullar belongs to Dhapali village of Bathinda district and has been settled in Canada since 1990 along with his family. He owns a business of selling plants.
Manjit Kaur said that she has developed fever and joint pains all of a sudden after she had participated in a national- level competition. She added saying that she has been suffering with the pain from 2009 till the year 2019 and that her father has passed away in 1998. she said that her family could not arrange money for her treatment and that her mother had to sell even the utensils in order to collect the money for her treatment.
She said that she has five siblings of three sisters and two brothers and that all of them have got married and they lead an independent life where as she resides along with her mother.
Bhullar has read about her and the condition she has been facing in December 2018. he said that she has sent his cousin Gurmail singh from Dhapali village in search of Manjit as he contact details have not been mentioned in the newspaper.
He added saying that, once he had got her number, he made a call and has proposed to marry her as he wanted her to lead a happy life permanently and not just help her by sending some money.
Mahinder Singh Bhullar and Manjit Kaur had get married on 12th of January 2020.
Mahinder Singh Bhullar had added saying that his family has supported him and the decision that he has taken to marry Manjit Kaur and provide her with a happy life. He said that he will be leaving for Canada on 3rd of March and would would take Manjit Kaur as well to Canada once her documents get ready.
