Right after the news broke of the UK Prime Minister becoming a father, news broke through that Boris Johnson has finalised his divorce with his Indian-origin wife, Marina Wheeler.
As per the reports, Marina has filed for the divorce in the early 2020 which has finally been granted. Johnson is the first prime minister in 250 years to be getting divorced while in office.
With the divorce finalised, it provide Johnson the freewill to now marry his fiancee Carrie Symonds. The two announced their engagement soon in February after the decree was completely filed. Symonds and Johnson have been living together in Downing Street since July 2019.
The happy couple also welcomed their son on April 29, 2020 and have named him Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson.
It has also been reported that Johnson’s divorce from his second wife was finalised with a grant of the decree just before the birth of his son.
Wheeler and Johnson have four children together. Wheeler, is of Indian-origin, her mother Dip Singh is from Punjab and is a popular barrister and columnist.
Wheeler had applied for the divorce after being granted permission from the Central Family Court in London to apply for a decree absolute, which is the legal document for ending the marriage. After getting the permission, the documents were filed immediately.
It is also believed that both Johnson and Wheeler will each end up with £4 million from the divorce settlement.
Wheeler, who is a famous published author, is all set to publish her next book, The Lose Homestead which is a book about her mother, who married her father, BBC foreign correspondent Charles Wheeler, in 1962.
The Prime Minister is currently working to lead the country out of a lockdown following his full recovery from the coronavirus.
Johnson was admitted to the ICU after his symptoms started getting worse than better. The cabinet colleagues have even confirmed that he had been receiving oxygen to keep him in good health.
The PM was later submitted to St. Thomas Hospital with persistent symptoms on April 05, 2020.
