A very renowned UK based NRI was very elated with India’s decision of removing the blacklist from the 312 Sikh foreign national’s names. In addition to that, the government also focused on releasing eight of the Sikh prisoners that were lodged in different jails in the country. He said that the news has spread across a wave of happiness and contentment among the Sikh community residing in the United Kingdom.

Charan Kanwal Singh Sekhon, who is the renowned and respectable chairman of Social Education Voluntary Association (SEVA) Trust UK and councillor Sharnbrook Counil, Bedford came forward to congratulate and thank the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for his decisions.

In an issued statement, Charan said that he was part of the Sikh delegation surrounding the Sikh Council Niskam Sewsk Jatha, which is the UK’s popular Gurudwara representatives and the councilors when everyone could successfully meet PM Narendra Modi during his London visit in 2015.

He said that the issue of removing the 312 Sikh foreign national’s names and the release of the Sikh prisoners who have already served their sentence was brought up during that time itself. He said that the prime minister was very ascertain about the issue and took deep interest in the said problem and listened to their plea.

Charan also thanked the Indian High Commission, London to help facilitate the meeting that was conducted back in 2015 with the prime minister.

That was the very first time that a Prime Minister of India came to meet the Sikh delegation in the UK and conversed about the important and such delicate issues involving the trouble days of Punjab.

The Indian administration has already revised as well as cleared out the blacklist. The Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has also emphasised on arranging direct flight from London Stansted to Punjab which has been long overdue.

Charan further exclaimed saying that getting this news was enough to spread across a wave of happiness amidst the Sikh community in UK. These are very positive moves which further ascertain the kind of sincere efforts that the government is putting in for the people. He further said that the same was definitely a highlight mainly because it is the 550th year of birth celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji which preached about love, peace and harmony.

The Home ministry officials announced on September 13th that they have removed all the blacklist names of the Sikh individuals involved in the anti-India activities.

This final decision was drawn following the in-depth analysis and discussion conducted by the varying security agencies present on the Central Adverse List. The name of the Sikh foreign individuals was removed from the blacklist depending on the kind of services that they have already rendered.

It was recently that the Union Home Ministry announced that the eight Sikh prisoners who were kept in different jails in the country because of their allegations and accusations during the military period in Punjab will be released on the 550th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji as a sign of humanitarian gesture.
