While the entire world is in the middle of a global pandemic, the death of a well UAE-based NRI, Joy Arakkal brought in looming sadness for the people in Wayanad. Arakkal was widely known across the city for his humanitarian attitude and his palatial house.
The UAE-based NRI died on Thursday because of a heart attack, according to the reports. Joy was the managing director of the UAE-based company, Innova group of companies. He was known across the city for his helpful nature and kind attitude. He was 54 and left behind his wife and two children. Because of the Covid-19 outbreak, there has been issues surrounding bringing his body back to Wayanad.
Arrakal Palace, Joy’s mansion in Mananthavady that is spread across 45,000 sq.ft area has been in the talks again following the death of the businessman.
Aside from his hard work, achievements and generosity, Joy was known for his philanthropic activities. He recently collaborated with Aster DM Foundation by donating 2.5 hectares land in Wayanad where Aster is going to build homes for the flood affected individuals in the city.
The Wayanad district collector, Adeela Abdullah also mentioned that they have been poured in with requests to bring back Joy’s body back to Wayanad for the last rites. The matter is still pending with the government.
