A Ukrainian man, Robert Jacob Matthews, 29 was chased by a wild dog in the island of Bali, broke his leg and fell into a well. He was trapped inside for a week, said the police on Monday.
He slipped into an empty 4-meters 13-foot-deep concrete well. For 6 days he was stuck there and luckily a farmer in Pecatu village heard his weak voice asking for help on Saturday, the police said.
This farmer informed all the other villagers who gave food and water to Matthews and tried to help him with a rope. However, he couldn’t be pulled up because of his injuries.
Yusak Agustinus Sooai, a Police Chief said, late Saturday, Matthew was lifted from a well and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment by a team from a local search-and-rescue agency, who wore a personal protective equipment because of the coronavirus outbreak.
He was on a vacation in Bali since March. He has a Ukraine Passport and a driver’s license issued by the UK, Sooai said.
“He told authorities that he had been trying to evade a wild dog that chased him,” He survived only by drinking water in the well.” Sooai said.
