The 24-year-old Indian origin student in London, the son of Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party leader, remains missing since Friday. The police are yet to make headway in the case.

Sanne Ujwal Sriharsha, the son of Khammam district BJP president Sanne Uday Pratap, was residing at Beaumont House in Bayswater and pursuing a master’s program in Electronics Engineering at the Queen Mary University of London.

Sriharsha’s distressed parents have been making every effort to hasten their visa process as there is no sign of their son’s whereabouts for close to three days now. The kin of the student is expected to travel to London soon.

Sriharsha last spoke to his parents on August 21. The missing case is presently being investigated by the Sussex police.

“On August 21, a backpack was found at the top of cliffs called Beachy Head, Eastbourne, East Sussex. Property within the bag was identified as belonging to your son. Unfortunately, the circumstances in how the backpack was found are leading police to believe that your son may have taken his own life. He has not been seen at his home in London since the early hours of August 21. At present, we have not been able to locate your son, but our inquiries into his disappearance are continuing,” the Times of India quoted a letter from police constable Darren Stevens as saying.

However, the parents disagreed to the police version and said that their son may have been kidnapped.

“He never ever exhibited any negative thoughts during his entire school and college days. The reported recovery of Sriharsha’s laptop bag and his mobile phone at a beach near London points needle of suspicion to some foreign students who stayed along with him at Beaumont House,” Uday Pratap was quoted as saying.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy delineated the matter to the Union External Affairs Ministry and made sure a speedy investigation into the missing case. Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya also extended his support to Uday Pratap.
