According to the media reports, a Sikh man in Australia was forced to remove Kirpaan in a bus after a passenger complained the police on Wednesday.
A witness while speaking to the New Zealand Herald said that the police car was behind the bus and a police stormed in the bus with gun in his hand and screamed at the man to raise his hands up and to get out of the bus.
The witness has also added that the Sikh man was in his twenties and was wearing a curved Kirpaan similar to sword, which was removed by the police.
However, according to the police spokesperson the removed Kirpaan was not confiscated by the police.
Kirpaan is considered as one of the five articles of faith in Sikh religion. Sikhs are living in Australia since 1830s and is home to more than 72,000 Sikhs. The Sikh population in the country is expected to rise in the upcoming census.
