US President Donald Trump recently nominated a senior Indian-American diplomat, Manisha Singh as the next envoy to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Singh is currently appointed as the Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs at the State Department.

OECD has its headquarters in Paris, France and is an intergovernmental economic organisation comprising of 36 member countries that helps propagate the economic growth and the world trade.

Singh has previously served as the Acting Under Secretary of Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment. She has also worked as the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Economic, Energy and Business Affairs at the State Department.

Aside from that, Singh also has experience serving as the deputy chief counsel to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Singh has also been accredited for her work as the Senior Fellow for International Economic Affairs at the American Foreign Policy Council and was also part of the team in the Council of Foreign Relations.

As per the reports published by the White House, Singh’s private sector experience includes practicing law at one of the popular multinational law firms and also working in-house at one of the mainstream investment banks.

Singh acquired her LLM in International Legal Studies from the American University Washington College of Law. She has also achieved her JD from the University of Florida College of Law. She pursued from graduation from University of Miami. She is also an alumni of University of Leiden Law School in the Netherlands.
