An NRI from Saudi Arabia has been taking education initiatives in Hyderabad aiming to lend a helping hand and to serve the community.

Arshad Pirzada who has being through a successful career in Saudi Arabia has worked hard in trying to initiate education in the community. From learning skills from various General Motors representatives at the Al- Jomiah Automotive Company or learning from the Indian expatriates, the hard work that Arshad Pirzada had done has paid off.

Pirzada questions whether one should stop after flying to another Kingdom in order to alleviate the economy of their family and shouldn’t he think of the people in his city where in they are left behind amid the economic crisis for a long time, referring to his stay in Saudi Arabia and his mission in striving for the upliftment of the people in his native city.

When Pirzada is questioned about his ups and downs in life, he starts mentioning about the time when his maternal grandfather was the Collector of Raichur which was formerly a part of Nizam’s Hyderabad State. He addresses those days as the days when peace and prosperity prevailed. He mentions that the police action in the year 1948 has made a drastic change to the peace that had been once prevailed in the city.

Pirzada talks about the start of his journey to educate a minuscule part of the community as he mentions his children being well settled and his wife being a teacher of the Quranic Arabic, author of a book and an entrepreneur in her own right. He added saying that, his wife deigns and sells mostly Bridal ware and has mentioned this being the reason where his active association with the Mount Mercy Schools has started.

The Mount Mercy School has been established in June 1999 and has experienced a lot of challenges initially with only 56 students getting enrolled and the with the development of better infrastructure, the number has increased and has reached to 850 students enrolled now.

Pirzada also mentions that the literacy levels among the Muslims are low as many are from the first- generation learners who have come from the families with limited financial resources.

He said that the money that is being obtained from the school will only be used in developing the facilities of the school.

The NRI said that the school also focuses on enhancing the soft skills of its students along with the hard skills and the students are also being polished to face the interviews with ease for different companies, contests as well as tournaments.
