A Telangana NRI’s body was prevented from being repatriated because of the obstruction posed by the airport security at Jeddah airport. The airport officials prevented the body from being loaded into the flight citing security reasons suggesting that there’s a rod in the body.
Following the dispute, the body of the NRI was finally repatriated on October 15th, 2019 Tuesday, following the medical confirmation from the authorities stating that there is a rod inside the leg of the man.
The demised, Jyoti Shankar who is 45 years old and is originally from Koheda mandal in the Siddipet district was settled in Bahrain for the last three years because of his profession. He was reported to have fled the sponsor and to be working illegally in the Kingdom island.
Following an accident where Shankar fell from a building, caused his leg to become fractured. During the surgery, a rod was inserted inside his leg to support the broken leg.
But, he later succumbed to injuries on September 29th, 2019 because of the impact he sustained from the accident and his body was embalmed to finally be repatriated back to India. While everything went smoothly, the process was obstructed by the airport officials when they raised objection stating the presence of the rod inside the body.
Dornala Siva Kumar, who is a renowned social worker in India, along with the Indian embassy took help of the local health authorities who certified stating that the rod has been inserted for medical purposes and nothing else. Once they got the green signals, the airport authorities let the Telangana NRI’s body to be loaded in the flight to be repatriated back to India.
