The central authority for adoption Child Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) is planning to launch a central portal for the NRIs as well as foreign citizen so that they can track the live status instead of relying fully on the official agency of the country.
The move is aimed at to raise the ease for the NRIs as well as OCIs and foreign nationals, who apply for the inter-country adoption.

Unlike the domestic applicants, the NRIs currently apply through an Authorised Foreign Adoption Agency (AFAA) of Central Agency (CA), which then forward their application to the CARA.
The portal will help the NRI parents to access all the information if they are already registered with CA or AFAA. The parents will also be given the unique username as well as password, which they can use to log in to the account after the registration, according to the report published in The Economic Times.
According to the statistics, there were 578 inter-country and 3,210 domestic adoptions took place in the year 2016-17.
