An ocean of huge oil spilled in Russia accidentally and the country declared for emergency help to clean the oil.
The president of Russia Vladimir Putin called for emergency help to clean the oil that leaked from northern Siberia. The huge oil leakage is threatening the environment.
Over 20,000 tons of oil leaked into the Ambarnaya river which is located near the city of Norilsk last Friday. The diesel leak scattered till seven miles from the site.
WWF Russia said this is the biggest diesel leakage in modern Russian history. The power plant’s director Vyacheslav Starostin is taken into custody till 31st July for the disaster caused but not yet charged.
The Russian Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case as the diesel leakage caused pollution. The report of leakage came to the authorities for help after a two day delay.
President Putin expressed anger for learning about the accident after a long delay through the media updates.
Norilsk is the world’s largest producer of platinum and nickel. This is not the first time a record from a company of environmental damage. It has the record of a blood river in Siberia in the year 2016.
