An NRI was cheated of Rs 15 lakh in Ghaziabad. An elderly woman who is a resident of Rajnagar of Kavinagar police station area has been cheated as the woman has come to India for the treatment of a mentally ill son and has invested Rs 15 lakh in the chit fund company. The accused of the chit fund company has shut down the company and fled. The victim has approached the accused several times but received nothing in return but assurances. The accused has fled after a complaint from the police station.
One of the accused has been arrested by the police as he came for the settlement on Saturday. However, the police has been investigated at various points.
According to the media report, Rajeshree Rana, originally a resident of West Bengal, lives in USA with her spouse Dorrendra Narsingh Rana. Her only son, Advait Rana, is mentally ill.Advait lives with his grandmother in a rented house in Delhi.
In order to treat her son, Rajashree Rana had to return to India as her mother passed away three years ago. She says that, she had met a woman who works to get insurance, during her stay here. She had two chit fund firm personnel interviewed.
Investment of 15 lakh rupees has been done by both of them in the Singapore based company and lured Rajeshree with profit, the amount of which was taken as cash in five occasions. The victim says that, she has been receiving some cash as a revenue for three months after which she stopped paying the cash.
