With the world inside their homes, protecting themselves and the society from the threat of the novel coronavirus, video conferencing has become the new best way to keep everyone connected.
GuruVw is a latest video conferencing platform that has been developed by a Non-Resident Indian, Vikas Gupta. He is also the founder and developer of the IamTreked, which is a popular GPS tracking software.
Gupta, who is an young entrepreneur of Indian origin is currently based out of Singapore and is into developing new and innovative software solutions. His GPS tracking system is leveraged by several fleet operators and MNCs in Singapore.
IamTreked’s IT solutions are also recognised by the Singapore government and are qualified for the government grants.
The importance of this software is so significant that even the Ministry of Electronics of Government of India has put out a contest for finding a similar platform with the same features and functions and they would be awarded with INR 1 crore and even set aside a budget of INR 2.4 crore for this.
When Gupta was asked about his new development with the video conferencing platform, GuruVw, he said that he developed this in line with the government efforts to make people stay at home, work from home or even learn from home. This tool will prove beneficial for teachers, students, businesses and even counsellors.
The platform is free for access during the lockdown period as a token of small contribution to the society to be productive even during such times of crisis.
It lets the teachers conduct online classes for the students. It lets team conduct meetings without any hassle and even add unlimited number of users.
The platform has also included a polling system for the students to let them see their responses. Aside from that, some of the other features involved included zoom, highlight, and draw and even write on presentations helping make the teacher’s point a lot clearer for the students to understand.
GuruVw also support the feature of breakout rooms wherein one class can be split into smaller groups to conduct projects. The students have the free reign to discuss everything with ease using the audio, webcam or even with documents and videos for better ease of virtual learning.
The platform also supports emojis that help bring in the missing fun factor that every student craves for. It also allows the students to present their discussions much like how it is done in a real class room setting.
Not just for schools, this platform is also viable for businesses, companies and management for conducting annual meetings or general meetings to discuss work flow and such. The polling feature in this is another highlight of this platform.
The application is also leveraged by the counsellors for conducting their sessions to help the individuals struggling with mental health issues during the crucial time of self isolation and confinement in the homes.
The platform can also be used by the doctors to help save lives by conducting teleconsultations for the patients with chronic diseases. It is also likely to help mitigate the fear of doctors and patients who could be a likely carrier of the virus. The login process and access to the meetings can be arranged using a simple link generated on the platform.
The meetings conducted on this platform are done using secure servers and using popular security protocols like TLS, HTTPS, Checksum, secret keys, SRTP, DTLS. Each meeting comes with a password system, which further allows you to conduct the meetings with complete privacy.
The platform has moderators during the meeting who can work much like monitors do. They can only allow the ones who are supposed to be in the meeting and filter out the rest.
