The Saudi Arabia government has commenced imposing the fee on assorted services it offers to the non-native population.
Annual residence fee
The imposition of an annual residence fee on non-native persons involuntary made several migrant Indian workers send back their families to India. Earlier, Saudi regime charged the fee per household.
The contemporary fee for dependents Saudi Arabian Riyal (SAR) 100 per month per dependent family member, will increase to SAR 200 from July 1, 2018.
The further increases are scheduled from July 1, 2019, to SAR 300 and to SAR 400 from July 1, 2020, which means a menage of four will shell out SAR 9600 that its Rs 1.72 lakh per year starting July 1.
Families back to India
While there are no accurate numbers on how many Non-Resident Indians have returned to India, merely a thriving rush for admission of children of expats in schools in Hyderabad has brought this issue to light.
Nearly 32.5 lakh Indians employed in Saudi Arabia 40 per cent comprise Malayalees, 20-25 per cent by Telangana people and the rest of the expat workers hailing from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
From Telangana state, most of the NRIs are from Hyderabad, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad.
