A man from the Dhalleke village of Moga has committed suicide at his house in Vancouver, Canada on Monday. The reason for the deceased for committing suicide has been studied to be harassment for cash and the property by his wife and in- laws.
The deceased has been identified as Baljinder Singh of 30 years old has allegedly committed suicide. The relatives of the deceased Baljinder Singh has said that he had hanged himself, as said by the relatives after receiving the news on Tuesday. They have alleged that Baljinder was being harassed by his NRI wife and in- laws for several months in the past, where in they have been forcing him to transfer the land of his family to their name or give them Rs 2 crore in cash.
They have added saying that the passport and the PR card of Baljinder Singh have also been allegedly confiscated by the in- laws.
Narayan Singh Sindhu who is the father of the deceased Baljinder Singh has said that his son had married an NRI woman in the month of December of 2017 and the wife was originally from Moga. He has added saying that the wife had lived for two months with his family at Dhalleke and had then went ack to Canada.
She has given birth to a baby girl in Canada in the month of November in the year 2018 following which Baljinder has also left for Vancouver.
Narayan Singh Sidhu has added saying that the couple had started having regular fights and the wife of Baljinder has refused to live with him in a separate house and had insisted that she would be living with her parents to which Baljinder Singh has agreed and has also lived with them for about 4- 5 months but he has been regularly abused and harassed. They have also refused to return the passport and PR card of Baljinder Singh.
He added saying that they have agreed to the marriage as the middleman was a relative and that they have later got to know that the marriage was a second marriage and that she has already been married and divorced to the first husband.
The family of Baljinder Singh has also been a victim of false allegation as an FIR regarding a fake dowry has also been registered against their family by Baljinder’s wife and in- laws which was later cancelled as no evidence has been found. Baljinder’s father has alleged that they are being threatened even after their son’s suicide regarding which they have filed a police complaint against the wife and in- laws of Baljinder Singh.
Moga Sadar police station SHO has said that the case would be investigated further.
