Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that a statue of Lord Ram will be built in Ayodhya, a city in UP, and it will be the tallest statue in the world with a height of 251 meters, according to reports.
The announcement by Yogi Adityanath came after a cabinet meeting on Monday.
Lord Ram’s statue will supposedly be taller than the 183 meter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue – the Statue of Unity that was inaugurated in Gujarat last year.
Yogi Adityanath said, “The Ram statue would be installed on a 100 acre site and the UP government will seek technical assistance from Gujarat.”
He further added, “There should be arrangements for basic tourist facilities along with the digital museum, interpretation center, library, parking, food plaza, landscaping based on the theme of Lord Shri Ram.”
As per reports, a separate unit of the State Manufacturing Corporation will be set up for the project, structure, construction work and bidding operation.
The Uttar Pradesh government also plans to seek help from IIT Kanpur and Nagpur-based NEERI (National Environmental Engineering Research Institute) to carry out the site survey, feasibility study and environmental assessment for the same.
The holy town of Ayodhya is home to the divisive temple-mosque dispute.
The 251-meter Lord Ram statue will also be the world’s tallest as it will stand taller than Statue of Liberty in New York (93 m), Gautam Buddha’s statue in China (208 m) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Mumbai (212 m).
