Kamala Harris’ victory is a live inspiration for women to dream and aim big. She stands up to be a true example to gender equality and how women can do wonders once elected as leaders.

So far, in the American History, she is the first woman to be elected as a VP.

Kamala Harris is thankful to her Indian heritage and mentions that her mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris is the one responsible for her position today.

She said, “woman most responsible for my presence here today — Shyamala Gopalan Harris who believed deeply in America where a moment like this is possible”

An intellectual and value-based upbringing of her single mother from India has helped her succeed today.

She being elected as a VP can be of help to the Indian Americans and benefit the Indo-US relations through deepening people-to-people affinities, strategic partnership, global policies and diplomacy.

Although this would be a 50/50 divide in the Senate, her influence would be there on US foreign policies even though it will ultimately depend on the stature of Biden’s Secretary of State and National Security Adviser.

As she emphasizes on multilateralism and leadership on global public goods like sustainable development, climate change and fighting the pandemic would make America great and stay encouraged globally.

She promised that the “first order of business” would be to pass the long overdue Equal Rights Amendment in the US.

She is expected to lay emphasize on girls and women, this would include their sexual and reproductive rights, economic empowerment and political participation and leadership on the global platform in the best possible ways.

There is a hope that she would stand to her promise of bettering the Indo-US relations in the security-strategic area, India’s UNSC membership, and combating cross-border terrorism as promised in her Biden-Harris campaign document for the Indian-American community.

Apart from this, she would keep good connections with India as PM Modi looks at her India’s daughter and celebrated her success.
