With the new executive order signed by President Donald Trump, Indians staying in US have been under immense stress over their future. This forewarning from Trump is likely not going to affect the Indians who have been residing there with green cards. The same was clarified by the legal and immigration experts.
But, with this new order in place, it is likely that the economy will become less attractive to the students who want to study or even build their careers there, especially if the order caps down on the number of available working visas for the foreign officials.
The late night tweet made by Trump on his twitter did cause a wave of confusion among the people already residing in the US, especially among the Indians who are awaiting their grants for residency, or is a student or there on the work visa.
The US government has not shed out any further information surrounding the same at the moment.
Over 227,000 Indians are in line awaiting their green card approval, majority of them in the database for a number of years already. The data for the individuals who are outside US are not known yet.
This is not the first time that Donald Trump has tried to restrict the immigration process in the United States, said a few of the immigration experts.
Rajiv S Khanna, managing attorney at immigration law firm, Immigration.com stated that even though Trump can restrict a halt to further immigration to protect US jobs, the same doesn’t affect the people who are already residing in US with their green card. The rights vested cannot be taken away.
Several of legal experts have suggested that this new executive order is likely going to be challenged in court. A multitude of lawsuits are going to be filed against this order.
Additionally, if there is a curb against the H-1B visas, it is likely that the American Universities won’t attract that much attention anymore. If the students spending a huge amount are not assured with a job of that calibre, it is likely that the same won’t be lucrative enough for them anymore.
Indian students do contribute quite a substantial to the US economy in the form of University fees every year. The universities are likely going to work to ensure that this executive order doesn’t impact the students who want to enroll in the courses.
On the contrary, the lawyers and advocacy groups are tensed about the impacts of this proposed order on the Indian economy. They believe that the same is also likely going to impact the IT sector as well.
The Indians who are currently in the US under the H-1B visa are going to be affected. Not only are they likely going to be stuck there for a long time, their return is also in a state of dilemma at the moment.
Since further inputs have not been suggested till now, it is likely not possible to tell how this is going to impact the day to day lives of people around.
