Even with the $2.2 trillion stimulus packages, several of the common Long Islanders have been wondering when they will get to experience the benefits of these relief packages. It is likely that the answer could be right away, in case you take a special liking towards Indian cuisine.
Real Usha Snacks & Sweets have been offering free lunches to whoever asking for it under their Real Usha Stimulus Packages. The service has been available at their outlet at Floral Park where they have been established since the last 30 years.
“The pandemic is more than we all have expected. The idea is to do good in our community,” said Victor Vora, the owner of the restaurant. While Victor is in India, his son Alap has been holding the fort down in the States.
Even though the restaurant has kept their regular business closed, offering online services for delivery, Usha’s kitchen has been lighting fire in the kitchen every single day to feed the ones who are in need of it. Their services are available from Tuesday till Saturday where they are offering a basic Indian vegetarian lunch spread including Roti, Dal, Bhat or Rice, Shak or Green leafy vegetables in a to-go box.
The only thing that you need to do is message the restaurant 24 hours in advance via their WhatsApp.
Vora further said that they are not expecting or accepting cash for the deed they are doing but they are open to donations of any of the staple Indian groceries that are needed to make these meals. All that he wants is for the community to come together and join hands during these moments of crisis.
