The 25-year-old Indian-origin man has been sentenced to 17 years of jail as well as 24 strokes of cane on Monday for raping a cleaner after she successfully foiled his attempt to rob her.
According to the media reports, Kelvin Singh Jagjit has been convicted with the charges of rape and sexual assault.
In the court, it was also proved that the convict was cycling around the Serangoon Gardens with Swiss Army Knife looking for victims to rob them.
