A masked assailant has shot an Indian national at a grocery store in Los Angeles and the incident has been reported to have happened during the early hours of Saturday, as said by the local police.

The victim has been identified as Maninder Singh Sahi of 31 years old and was said to be married. Maninder Singh Sahi was identified as having hailed from Karnal and has arrived in the United States less than six months ago and as a person who had sought political asylum.

He was a father of two and was working at a grocery store named 7-Eleven in the Whittier City in the Los Angeles County of California. He was the only member to earn in his family and would sen money to his wife and two children who were back home, as said by the relatives of the victim in the United States.

As reported by the Whittier Police Department, the incident has occurred at early hours of the day at around 5:43 am on Saturday. Preliminary it appears that the suspect has entered the grocery store with a semi- automatic handgun and the suspect was initially intended to commit a robbery. The police department has released the picture of the suspect while saying that the suspect has fired the gun for unknown reasons which had led to killing the clerk.

The police has said that the suspect has fled the location and had left the two customers uninjured, who were also present in the grocery store. The police has described the suspect as a male and a black adult of approximately 506-507 and that the face of the suspect was partially covered as he had been wearing a dark hoody with a gray hoody underneath.

A GoFund Me Page has been set up by the brother of the victim Maninder Singh Sahi in order to raise money so that the corpse of the victim could be taken back to his native country India.

The victim’s brother has written in the GoFund Me page that Maninder Singh Sahi has left behind his parents, his wife and his two children who were of 5 and 9 years of age and that he was seeking assistance regarding a help for sending his corpse back to India so that his family could could have a one last glimpse of their beloved one.
