India eases travel restrictions for OCI cardholders under certain conditions. The new rules are a must know for the people who are waiting to travel back to India who are holding OCI status in other countries.
The Home Ministry of India has issued new rules for the people who are staying overseas and want to travel to India.
Children who are holding citizenship of another country but their parents are Indians or OCI cardholders can travel to India. OCI card holders whose visit to India is emergency can enter the country. Emergencies like medical conditions and death of family members are exceptions under this condition.
The married couples, one of them with OCI status and other with Indian nationality are allowed to come travel back to India from any other country.
Foreign nationals who are married to Indians or foreign nationals being single parents, with minor children but with Indian passports or OCI cards have entry to India. The new rules are applicable to the students holding passports of forgien country but one of their parents are Indian citizens or holding OCI cards are allowed.
Family members who are dependants on foreign diplomats or official service passport holders accredited to foregin diplomatic missions, consular offices or accredited international organizations in the country can enter India under new rules.
All foriegn entries are again subjected to obtaining a fresh visa from Indian embassies in the country they are presently living in. The people who are holding long term visas will have to revalidate them. The foregin nationals who were issued with electronic visas previously are still to stay back in the same country.
