The Indian Embassy is encouraging Indian expats living in Oman to enroll as overseas voters for the upcoming election, the Embassy in Muscat announced.
“In view of the increasing interest among Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in Oman to participate in the political process in India, the Embassy of India would like to encourage NRIs in Oman to enroll as NRI voters to become a part of the election process in India,” the Embassy announced on Thursday.
The application for this purpose can be filed in prescribed form in person before the concerned electoral registration officer or even sent by post. “It can also be filled online on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer of the concerned state or on the website of the election commission of India.
“NRIs residing and working in Oman are, therefore, encouraged to get their name registered on the electoral rolls as NRI voters, in case they have not already done so, to enable them to become a part of political process in India,” the authorities of Indian Embassy told to the media.
