In Sharjah, on Friday morning, a boy named Ameya Santosh studying in Grade 10 from DPS Sharjah went missing and luckily another student found him at La Mer on Sunday afternoon. It was a sigh of relief for the family to find him back.

It was reported that the boy did so because he was afraid of fairing well in Maths and Science papers. He survived for two days without enough food and warm clothing, the boy saw a tough time.

One of his close friend’s mother, Menon said “He’s a very simple, soft-spoken boy who tends to keep to himself. Ameya is not the kind who will ask for money or food, even if he is hungry. He only uses his phone when he goes for tuitions”.

She added, “He spent Friday night and the whole of Saturday at the Bur Dubai bus station”.

He was dropped off by his dad at Al Qasimia near Mahatta Park for his tuitions. The family said that the teenager didn’t go for his science tuitions on Friday and walked to Al Jubail bus station in Sharjah and boarded the bus to Ghubaiba station in Bur Dubai.

Not having enough balance in his NOL card, on Sunday morning, he started walking towards Jumeirah, passed across many places and finally reached La Mer beach where Ronit(the other student) found him.

Ameya met the other boy at a McDonald’s outlet. According to Ameya’s father “He had come to eat there and he struck a conversation with Ameya and he ordered food for him also. He has come as an angel for us. He told Ameya to call me and gave him his phone.”

Ameya broke down when he spoke to his father and his father said “I comforted him and told him not to feel bad or scared. I made sure that he doesn’t think that we are going to punish him for this.” Ameya had an emotional reunion with his mother he added.

It was kind of the boy to wait there until his father went to pick up Ameya. His father said “He had to leave immediately and hence I couldn’t take his details. We are very grateful for what he has done for us.”

The family went back to Sharjah Police in order to remove the complaint and clear Ameya’s name from the list of missing persons.

“The CID also explained to him that he should not do such things ever again. They told him that parents may get angry with children but all that is for their better future.”

His father let Amaya relax and take a break from school. The parents were grateful to the parent’s community who supported them while they searched for Ameya.
