Hurricane Harvey Relief

To raise funds for the restoring of situation in the US State of Texas after the arrival of hurricane Harvey, Indian Consul General in US, Anupam Ray, has urged the Indian diaspora in the country to raise $1 million for the relief operations. All the funds will be used in various relief operations undergoing in the state to restore the rampage created by a historic storm.

While speaking to the PTI, Ray said that the main aim behind the fundraising is to support the relief operations and to showcase the aggregated picture of the efforts of the community.

Large number of Indian-Americans in Houston gathered at the Indian Consulate after the appeal of CGI. Ray also said that the donators can track their donations by writing a specific code on their donation mode.

Ray also said that the three major Indian oil companies working here, such as GAIL, Oil India and ONGC has promised to contribute $10,000 each for the fundraising for Hurricane Harvey relief.

Other major people such as Michael Dell, Founder and CEO of the Dell Computers and the President of SEVA International, Gitesh Desai have committed to donate some amount in the Governor’s relief fund.

India House has also committed to donate $50,000 for the fundraising along with Jagdip Ahluwalia of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.
