A sit- in Satyagraha has been planned by the community of the Indian Americans in the metropolitan area of Washington, DC. The sit- in Satyagraha is said to be scheduled on 1st of February at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in front of the Indian embassy on Saturday.

The event has been organized by policy advocacy group Young India which encourages the participants to remember the non- violence protests that has been made by the Father of the Nation in the wake of the political atmosphere that is currently prevailing in India.

Rohit Tripathi who is one among the organizers has told the American Bazaar that the event is being called as Satyagraha as they have been emphasizing that words said my Mahatma Gandhi which were that your means are as important as your end, as he referred to the silent sit- in at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in front of the Indian embassy.

He adds saying that they have been focused on a methodology which is of soul force and that incorporates the innate beliefs and the commitments to non- violence in both the means i.e., either speech or through deeds.

When asked if the values of Mahatma Gandhi are under threat considering the present scenario, Tripathi had replied saying that most of the people are under- educated about the holistic methodology for transformation, of Mahatma Gandhi.

Tripathi has said that granularity is the biggest missing piece with which the articulation of an overarching vision for India and other democracies which are progressive needs to be done that contextualizes the protests beyond the misgiving or grievance of the day.

Tripathi has also added saying that the silent sit- in at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in front of the Indian embassy in Washington is to send a message to the people that the achievement of mass participation can only be done through non- violence.

The silent sit- in Satyagraha by the Indian American community in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area at the statute of Mahatma Gandhi in front of the Indian embassy is done in order to mark the January 30 death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
