Indian-Americans welcomes the decision form the Trump Administration of not blocking H-1B visas extensions. They said that the earlier proposed “devastating” move would have led to the “unprecedented” brain drain thereby hurting the country’s economy.
This comes in the wake of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services announcement that it was not considering any proposal that forces H-1B visa holders to return to their respective countries. Earlier, reports indicated that the Trump administration was considering tightening H-1B visa rules and may send back 7,50,000 Indians.
Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi said,”I welcome the decision by the US Citizenship and Immigration Service to allow H1-B visa holders to continue to apply for visa extensions while awaiting their green cards.”
“While we must continue to invest in developing the skills of our domestic workforce, this decision avoids hurting American businesses and workers, while keeping families together in the process,” he added.

Krishnamoorthi said Trump received opposition in his office and others on the proposal for terminating the H1-B extensions, as it would hurt American businesses, the American economy, and American workers, besides tearing apart families.
“In short, that proposal was un-American. I am glad that the Trump administration listened to us and others,” he said.
According to Hindu American Foundation (HAF) executive director and Legal Counsel, Suhag Shukla, “the results would’ve been devastating. Devastating to these law abiding, tax paying workers and their families who have made America their home. Devastating for America by causing an unprecedented brain drain of skilled workers and potential entrepreneurs.”
Shukla said the HAF lobbied and ensured that the Congress voiced their concern soon after the US President Donald Trump began raking up the H-1B visa issue.
