Vivek Lall, who is one of the prominent names in the field of aerospace in the country has been responsible for playing some key roles when it came to the defence deals between India and US has been appointed as the Chief Executive of the General Atomics Corporation, headquartered at California.
Lall resigned his former work role as the vice president of the Aeronautics Strategy and Business Development at Lockheed Martin to spend some quality time with his family in San Diego. But, it was just a few weeks later that he was approached by General Atomics with the current role.
“We are pleased to announce that Dr Vivek Lall will assume the position of Chief Executive at General Atomics Global Corporation, effective immediately,” reported Global Atomics in a statement.
General Atomics (GA) is one of the most well known privately held nuclear and defence company in the world.
The company believes that with the kind of expertise that Lall possess, it will help the company expand its global footprint in terms of sales, service, as well as the international industrial collaborations around in some of the key countries like Japan, Australia and UAE.
“Dr Lall’s extensive experience in the US and international markets will strengthen the company’s international growth,” reported the company.
This is Lall’s second stint with GA which is responsible for the production of a series of unmanned aircraft and also provides with electro-optical, radal and intelligence programs for the surveillance systems around.
During his tenure from 2014 to 2018 as the Chief Executive of the Strategic Development at GA, Lall worked with the Trump administration to sell category 1 unmanned aerial vehicles.
In this newly appointed role, Lall is going to be working and heading the General Atomics Global Corporation.
GA is a leading company in the thermonuclear research programs under private owned entities. It is also a leading firm in the field of the next-generation fission and high temperature materials technologies.
For over a decade now, Lall has been part of some of the leading bilateral programmes worth over $18 million. This also includes the 24 MH-60R Multi-Role Helicopters from Lockheed Martin for the Indian Navy worth USD 2.6 billion.
Lall has also taken part in some of the important defence bilateral deals. Some of the most prominent ones include “10 C17 strategic lift worth USD4 billion, P-8I Anti-submarine warfare aircrafts (eight and then four) worth USD3 billion, 28 apache helicopters and 15 chinooks worth USD 5 billion 22 harpoon missiles worth USD 200.”
Owing to his expertise and the knowledge, Lall was also appointed to the US Federal Aviation Advisory Committee just two years back. He has taken care of a number of programs pan India during that tenure.
Lall has also been trained as a private pilot from the Phoenix International Flight Training Center in Florid and he finished his doctoral work with collaboration with NASA which further adds to his credibility.
