According to the announcement made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will start to grant gratis visas to the citizens of Myanmar who want to visit India.
The announcement came in the joint declaration during the meeting of PM Modi with Myanmarese State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.
Along with this, PM Modi had also announced that India will be releasing around 40 Myanmarese citizens in various jails in India.
PM Modi had also said that India support Myanmar in various problems the country is facing such as the alleged violent activities by the Rohingya Muslims, although Aung San Suu Kyi has been brutally criticized for persecution of the Rohingya Muslims in the country.

PM Modi has also been criticized for his government’s decision to deport the population of Rohingya Muslims from the country.
The visit between Indian PM Narendra Modi and Aung San Suu Kyi was organized amidst the recently concluded Doklam Standoff with China before the BRICS summit under the government’s Act East Policy and to reduce the Chinese footprints in the region.
