A disheartening story of a young married couple who lose each other as the husband dies. Nitin Chandran, a 28-year-old man from Kerala living in Dubai died in his sleep on Sunday.
His wife Athira Geetha Sreedharan requested the Supreme Court for an early repatriation during the lockdown and he was the face of NRI COVID-10 woes in Kerala.
He died exactly a month after his wife left for Kerala on the first repatriation flight from Dubai (she returned on May 7).
According to Gulf News, Athira gave birth to a daughter and she has no clue about her husband’s death. Her family is worried about her health deteriorating due to this tragic news. The shifted her to a hospital without breaking the news to her and she had a cesarean.
The cause of her husband’s death is not known. But according to his friends he was suffering with high blood pressure and a heart condition.
Since the delivery of their first baby was due in the first week of July, the couple filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an early repatriation. As the Government had imposed a blanket suspension on international flight services, their petition failed.
On May 7th, Athira traveled in the first flight that operated under Vande Bharat Mission. Last Tuesday, Nitin had turned 28. He couldn’t travel with her because of his busy schedule.
Luckily, the Indian Council General in Dubai considered her advanced stafge of pregnancy and prioritized her need to travel and due to which she got a ticket on the first repatriation flight.
According to Khaleej Times, the Dubai Police mortuary near AI Twar in Dubai received his body after Nithin’s close friends moved his mortal remains hoping to repatriate him to India for the final rites.
