Ahmedabad, India:
Many Gujarati NRI’s are heading to India to boost BJP in the coming state elections this week. They are here to assist in the poll prospects for BJP in the region. This is a step to show their support for their fellow Gujarati ; PM Sri Narendra Modi.
This most unusual group of campaigners is causing a stir in Gujarat already. A group of 60 extremely wealthy Gujarati NRI’s from around the world have flown in to spread support for Narendra Modi and help them not get swayed by false information.
BJP leaders have told that all these NRI’s have come in on their own expenses and they have known Sri Narendra Modi from his days as the CM of Gujarat. All these NRI’s are from various streams like Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacies and even Businessman.
Jashubhai Patel, 51, a surgeon from California, USA said that, “The way he has taken Hindutva to the world, from yoga to Indian way of simple living, everyone is looking up to us. I tell voters to strengthen him”

He also added that, “Life was very difficult for us when we were growing up in Gujarat. Narendrabhai took Gujarat out of the misery of both caste politics and underdevelopment. He has given a unified Identity to all Indians”
He has himself personally asked voters to not fall prey to fake promises made by others, and he further stated, “We as a community have come up striving hard. Let’s not ruin that by asking for reservation. Quality and merit is important for the nation to grow. I have known him (Sh Narendra Modi) for years. He does nothing for himself. Growth and welfare of the poor is his only concern”
BJP foreign affairs head Vijay Chauthaiwale said, “Some NRIs have come to Gujarat and are campaigning for BJP. Others, who can’t spare time to visit India, are part of our social media messengers. They are also making calls to their friends and family back home to urge them to vote for BJP. All these efforts are purely on voluntary basis. People visiting India and campaigning are doing at their own expense. All these efforts show their great affection for BJP and PM Modiji. We usually guide them on where they should campaign, but most of them wish to work in their home districts as they are familiar with the people and the geography”
Bharat Barai, an oncologist from NY, USA said, “I tell people I can’t vote here. I can’t contest from here but I came here to campaign for Modi because I love this country and I want it to grow”
He further added that, “we left this country because there were no opportunities but Narendrabhai is trying to change that. He is doing something good and all of us should support him”
There is a lot of enthusiasm among Gujarati Indians and since 2014 elections their participation has been increasing. Many NRI’s are now in touch with the State’s development and have been contributing their bit.
“Modi’s heart is still in Gujarat and he is still overseeing the state’s development. The state has not seen any riots since 2002,” said Bhailal Patel, a 77 year old Chicago-based NRI who has known Sh Modi Ji since his beginning days.
The momentum is only going to pick up further, as this time of the year is most visited by NRI’s from all over. Due to marriages in Gujarat and festival vacations in other parts of the world, and campaign is going to benefit further.
