Here’s everything about Joe Biden you must know. We take you through a ride of his life journey who could be the next face of the US.
Joe Biden is the fifth youngest US senator, America’s 47th vice president, Barack Obama’s buddy, and a democratic party’s Presidential candidate.
Known enough of him?
NO, here’s something more that Joe Biden has in store for you. Take a look.
From an attorney to a politician and from Wilmington, his native place to White House, Joe Biden’s journey is intriguing and inspiring.
He missed the Presidency twice:
If you think this is the Joe Biden’s first run for Presidency, you are wrong, he missed the shot twice.
In 1987, the senator was accused of plagiarising the speech by Neil Kinnock, the leader of the British Labour Party.
This compelled him to withdraw from the pursuit of nomination in 1988.
In 2007, 20 years later, he again withdrew from the nominations after getting less than 1 percent votes in the Lowa Democratic Caucus.
He had a spate of personal tragedies:
Joe Biden was born in 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to a modest family. His father held a law degree from Syracuse University in NewYork.
A famous line from his father which Joe Biden recollects every time:
“ No one is better than you. Everyone is equal to you and you are equal to everyone.”
In 1972, at the age of 29, Biden became the 5th youngest US senator but his achievement was soon followed by the death of his wife and daughter in an accident.
The accident also left both his sons injured.
Joe was as much a father as a Senator. For 5 years, he raised his two sons as a single parent while having to travel miles every single day from Wilmington to Washington.
This gradually earned him the name ‘Amtrak Joe’.
The tragedies and difficulties in his personal life did not discourage him from his political career. Biden went on to be re-elected six times, becoming the longest-serving Senator.
“No matter where you start in life, there is nothing you can’t achieve”- Joe Biden
Years later another tragedy stuck his life after he lost his eldest son to brain cancer in 2015.
Friendship with Obama
The two consecutive terms at the White House have been more than just work. The Obama-Biden bromance has often created a buzz in the country.
In 2017, Barack Obama bestowed upon his friend the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Biden and controversies
While Joe Biden’s plagiarism scandal in 1988 continues to reverberate, the same year he also acknowledged that he plagiarised a law review article during his first year in law school.
In 2007, he claimed that he was shot at in Iraq’s green zone and later opened up that near where the shot has landed.
Even in 2020, it is being alleged that Joe Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ slogan was coined by Bill Clinton in 2006.
The 2020 race for US Presidency
This time Biden is seen adopting a moderate approach and wants to give the middle class a fair shot.
His plans include:
Tripling the child tax credits from $2000 to $6000.
Four years of free college
A minimum wage of $15 for all
A plan to tackle climate change
To set up Obamacare
The US elections on November 3 will decide the fate of the US and also if Biden’s long-term dream has been fulfilled or not.
