Houston Police said George Floyd’s body returns to Texas for a final service and funeral. The last services will be on Tuesday in the suburb of Pearland.
Police Chief Art Acevedo said through twitter that Floyd’s family also arrived safely. There was a six hour viewing for Floyd which was planned for Monday in Houston. Following it, the funeral and the burial will be held on Tuesday in the suburb of Pearland. Floyd’s body will be buried beside his mother’s, Larcenia Floyd.
The memorials were already held for Floyd in Minneapolis and Raeford of North Carolina where he was born.
George Floyd’s death led to a long protest and thousands of people marched to obtain justice for his death. The protest against racism was prolonged and highlighted the police brutality which was not strange in the US towards black people. Around 60,000 people participated in a rally near Houston city hall last week along with the Floyd family.
A memorial service was held in the presence of musicians, politicians and celebrities as an honour for George Floyd on Thursday. Later on Saturday, his body traveled to Raeford for a public viewing and private family service.
