Out of 32 Americans who were chosen for the Rhodes Scholars, four of them are Indian Americans namely Swathi R Srinivasan, Vijayasundaram Ramasamy, Garima P Desai and Savarni Sanki. The 32 names were announced by the American Secretary of the Rhodes Trust Elliot Gerson.
The 32 members are a very diverse group including multiple immigrants and students of color. The students won scholarships to the Oxford University in England.
This year’s Rhodes Scholarship group represents America embracing diversity and empowering people of color who represent skill and strength of America and themselves.
Out of the 32 students, 22 are students of color. 10 are black, one is a dreamer with active deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.Seventeen of the winners are women and 14 of them are men. One of the students is non-binary.
These students will go to Oxford University in October 2021 to study in different fields including social, biology, physical sciences, humanities and public policy.
All the students are very intelligent and have impeccable academic and social records. Not only are they all academically brilliant but also do a lot of social service for communities.
The Rhodes Scholarship provides expenses for two or three years of study at the University of Oxford in England.
In addition to 32 Americans, this scholarship will reach people from 60 different countries all over the world including Australia, Germany, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India and many more.
The scholarship promises future leaders of the next generation.
