A fake doctor of the Indian origin has been jailed for the knife attack on his family in UK.
The Indian- origin man had pretended being a qualified doctor for over a decade where in he was a failed medical student and has been faking his medical qualifications. He was pretending to busy with late night shifts for about seven years, as told to the Reading Crown Court.
The accused Satya Thakor who is said to be of 35 years of age has been sentenced on Monday.
The court had been told by the prosecution that he had made an attempt to suffocate his mother- in- law Gita Laxman trying to cover her head with a pillow and had later armed himself with a knife and had made an attempt to attack his wife Nisha in her neck and then tried to stab her in her leg as she fell to the floor trying to kick him away. He has also stabbed brother- in- law Primal Laxman who tried to intervene and later his sister- in- law Rishika as he rushed into her room where she was asleep.
Satya Thakor had been found at his home in Wraysbury, Berkshire where he had stabbed himself several number of times.
The Judge Paul Dugdale has made a note saying that,” You chose an extreme act of violence to get out of the difficulty that you were in. You could have stopped it as the madness that it was and as the idiotic decision that it was, but you chose not to.”
During the attack that has happened, Thakor, along with his wife Nisha and daughter had travelled to his mother- in- law’s place from Leicester which was the place where Thakor along with his family was residing.
the court had been told that Thakor had been leaving home every day and was pretending to go for work but instead he would sit in the library and would spend the time reading medical books.
He suspected that his secret that he has been maintaining from years would be exposed when his wife had asked him for a dream holiday to Los Angeles for which he had no money to afford as he had not been earning in order to pay for the trip.
“You had reached the very last weekend before your deceptions would have come crashing around you,” the judge stated.
Thakor had been found guilty of three counts of attempt to murder and one count of causing grievous bodily harm that has been done intentionally.
Thakor had written a letter to the judge where in he has said that he felt shameful of not being able to get graduated as a doctor which has led to fear that he would get abandoned by his family and friends. He had also feared that his marriage would be stopped and therefore he had to lie that he had graduated and pretend to be a doctor in order to satisfy his family and friends.
Thakor had been briefly sectioned under the Mental Health Act after the attacks that he had made with the knife but he was however deemed fit for the trial.
Thakor has met his wife Nisha while studying biochemistry at a university in London and after he had failed in the exams for qualifying as a doctor, he had kept lying that he had passed his exams and pretended to be a doctor for almost a decade.
