While U.S recently announced about the extension of the Visa applications amidst coronavirus pandemic, reports suggest that the application process will proceed case by case. These are either going to be conducted on special case situation or under the case by case process.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reported that they have already taken steps to help the employees, individuals and the immigrants who are stranded in U.S and facing issues because of the status of their visa amidst a global pandemic.

A spokesperson from USCIS stated saying, “For those in the United States in need of an extension of their nonimmigrant stay, the USCIS may extend their stay depending on the circumstances.”

The USCIS also explained that there is going to be no blanket extension of the visa amidst the covid-19 crisis but the people with the H-1B visa actively need to apply for the visa extension with an application to avail the same.

“When requested, the USCIS may provide special support to individuals who may be affected by the circumstances beyond their control,” said the USCIS spokesperson.

They said that with the kind of changes and impacts that they are noticing around, they are likely going to analyse the issues and take possible steps to further address these challenges that have come along their way.

Any further changes to the decision will be made public for the people to stay informed about the situation around. They want the public to be completely informed to ensure that they recover from the challenges that everyone is experiencing.

The notification issues by USCIS reported saying, “Generally, non-immigrants must depart the United States before their authorised period of admission expires. However, we recognise that non-immigrants may unexpectedly remain in the United States beyond their authorised period of stay due to COVID-19.”

While the primary notification was issued that the H-1B visa extension application is going to be accepted with legit reasons, the latest reports suggest that the same is now going to be addressed under the first come, first serve and case by case basis.
