Deeply-Shaming

Days after thousands of British-Pakistani groups vandalized Indian High Commission building in London as part of their protest against revoke of Article 370, noted British columnist Katie Hopkins lashed out at Pakistan-origin London Mayor Sadiq Khan over the mess that was created by the protesters.

The violent protesters pelted stones, eggs, and shattered windows of the building and also damaged the premises of the embassy.

Katie Hopkins released two videos on Twitter walking outside the Indian embassy showing the devastated premises and gates of which are covered with eggs and other garbage.

In her tweet, Hopkins has written, “The Indian Embassy in London – one of our greatest allies – is a filthy mess of eggs and vandalised windows at the hands of Pakistani protesters in the UK. Is the Muslim Mayor of London enabling this behaviour? Why has this not been cleaned up? Deeply shaming for Britain.”

She blasted on Sadiq Khan for the filth created outside the embassy by the protesters. Hopkins further said it is shameful for Britain to do this to the embassy of India, which is UK’s greatest ally.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar criticized the violent protests saying India considered these incidents to be unacceptable. He strongly called on the United Kingdom to take needed steps to make sure the embassy functions normally and safety of the personnel working at the mission.

Sadiq Khan termed the clashes as unacceptable behaviour and urged the police to take action against the perpetrators.

This is the first time that Indian mission in UK witnessed violent protests. The similar protests happened on the Indian Independence Day as well.
