The traditions and the cultural tapestry of Telangana and various other states of India has been displayed by the NRI community living in Qatar.
The event has been organized by Indian Cultural Center under the supervision of the Indian embassy in collaboration with Museum of Islamic Art of Qatar. The event is said to be a two-day event with the theme being, Passage to India, Community Festival.
The event is said to be formally inaugurated by P Kuamaran who is the Indian ambassador and it had been attended by several dignitaries of Qatar, as stated by the organisers.
The NRI organizations has represented several states of India and has presented the core culture of their respective states, to the mammoth audience. Telangana folk art has also been represented by the Telangana Jagruthi and Telanaga Praja Samithi (TPS) which are the Telangana expatriate organizations in Qatar.
The women from the Telangana Praja Samithi has performed on the folk songs of Telangana and were dressed up in the traditional attire of the Telangana culture. The women of Telangana Jagruthi had performed the Banjara dance of lambadas which has been filled with praises by the audience.
The state culture of Andhra Pradesh has also been showcased by the Andhra Kala Vedika.
The festival has focused to highlight the colorful culture and tradition of the Indian community. The erection of the replica of the Red Fort that is situated in Delhi, in the premises of Museum of Islamic art was said to be the key attraction for the visitors who have attended the event. It is said that the audience had paid a visit to the stalls that portrayed the textiles and art and crafts when compared to the other stalls.
The cultures of various States of India has been reflected in the performances which were done by the students of various Indian schools in Qatar.
The contributions made by the long-term Indian residents of Qatar in the growth of the country and who have also played a positive role is maintaining the bilateral trade between the two countries have also been recognized and were honored in the festival.
