Coronavirus can’t be anything worse than affecting children around 50,000 and above. This big number of children’s health and well being is a warning from UN agencies. Kids who are under five are at risk of malnutrition in MENA the agency says.

Both WHO and UNICEF said the low facilities and health essentials fall short which causes thousands of children to starve. The organizations said “reversing progress (on) child survival in the region by nearly two decades”.

Though there are less cases in MENA but it is still affecting children’s health and well being. The agencies said “While we do not have many cases of COVID-19 among children in the region, it is evident that the pandemic is affecting children’s health firsthand”

It is an estimation of 51,000 children suffering from hunger in the region by the end of 2020. This would be the situation if malnutrition overtakes and the death causes are also linked to short of vaccinations. There are certain diseases which are specific at a young age and they need to be treated, vaccinated to save their lives. If there is no vaccination and treatment available, then it leads to death of kids.

The agencies are calling for expanded health facilities with a minimum of personal protective equipment. Parents could be worried about children contracting COVID-19 at health clinics and economic conditions are low at this time.

The agency asked to work on developing the trust in public health systems and promote needed health assistance as well.

They specifically said this “But we can avoid this scenario, allowing tens of thousands of children to celebrate their fifth birthday surrounded by their families and friends”
