The lockdown has created kayos in the lives of NRIs stuck in India and are struggling to go back to US and other countires. Either it is the fear of losing a job, a mother’s restlessness to take care of her baby or a family member left behind that’s making all of them anxious now.
Given the fact that the Government has extended this lockdown till May 17th has added on to their fear, anxiety and stress.
Tejaswi, an NRI from Michigan is skeptical about making it for the doctor’s appointment on May 26th. She said “If I miss my appointment with the doctor, it may take months before we will be able to reschedule it.”
She had come down to India on February 15th and had her flight scheduled for March 28th. Due to the lockdown and prohibition on international flights to curb the spread of coronavirus, she is stuck here.
Sadly, a lady named Rashmi Deshpande from Maryland has been living in the US for 18 years is stuck in India due to the lockdown. She had come to perform her mother’s last rites. She is worried about her 8-year-old autistic son who is left alone back home and is keen on going back to him.
On March 15th, Srikanth reached Bengaluru for a family emergency. His children are with him. However, his wife is left back all alone in Boston. Due to the critical situation of unemployment and the economy falling down in the US, he is worried about losing his job back at Boston.
One of the NRIs named Sai, a research scientist in Oregon stuck in Chennai has a question for the Government that when they helped all the other foreign citizens go back to their nation in a special craft, why not help these NRI citizens go back to their homes and work in special outbound flights?
It is a pathetic situation out there. There are a few more NRIs loaded with more problems and they tweeted about their condition to bring it to the notice of PM Narendra Modi.
The tweet started with Subhasree Sridhar’s post on twitter saying “Sir, we r (are) emotionally drained, broken being separated 4m (from) family. We have more damages like losing job(s), visa status etc going on than worrying about the hidden virus. Please resume outbound flight to US & (and) let us go,”
Similar tweets from NRIs are flooding and they are all desperately pleading the Government to make arrangements for sending them back.
