The US’ Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stepped forward to stand as a backbone for India during this pandemic and provide them $3.6 million to stay prepared and respond to activities.
According to economic times, CDC is a federal agency under the US’ Department of Health and Human Services.
The embassy is focusing on providing these funds to boost the financial condition of the Indian Government in improving laboratory capacity for testing SARS-COV-2, which includes molecular diagnostics and serology.
Besides, these funds will be used to develop Infection Prevention and Control centers of excellence and strengthen the local health systems through enhanced surveillance and monitoring systems.
Local partners would get assistance on how to manage risks and be prepared for future threats. The CDC office in India, sub-national, and, other institutes will collaborate to support COVID-19.
