On Friday morning, a suspect in the Wakefield section of New York and two U.S. marshals were injured in a shootout. Police said that at around 5.30 am, the shots were fired on Ely Avenue.
According to officials, for being treated, these marshals were rushed to Jacobi Hospital and now they are in a stable condition.
One marshal was shot in elbow and thigh, the other one was shot in the leg.
According to the police, at the scene, a 9 mm Glock handgun could be recovered.
The suspect, Sterling, was shot because of shooting a state trooper in Massachusetts on Nov. 20.
The police said, he was facing multiple charges including armed assault with an intention to murder and get possession of a firearm.
Apart from this, on narcotics charges, he was wanted in Wyoming.
A second suspect was a part of the shooting and he was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment. In New York City, the authorities are investigating the shooting.
