The bush fire burning in the Adelaide Hills in Australia has lead to a heatwave across south east Australia. Due to this, the temperature has been soaring in the nation’s biggest cities. Police and officials have declared this as an emergency warning and that the neighboring province, Victoria might also face its worst fire risk.
Victoria’s capital, Melbourne has reached a staggering 30C ahead of the expected 40 degrees maximum. Health officials have stated that the people must stay inside, avoid physical activities and keep remedies ready to avoid inhaling the smoke.
On Monday, the blaze in the hills has strengthened drastically. The fire has burnt 2,500 hectares so far. There have also been reports of several injuries. The smoke has obscured the city skyline and residents are forced to wear masks.
This fire is a serious threat to those with chest and heart conditions according to health officials. This heat is expected to last until the mid week across the country.
In 2020, Australia had faced a horrible fire which shocked the world. The heat lasted for 33 days. Last year had recorded Australia’s hottest temperature in over two decades. Heatwaves in the country are Australia’s most deadly disaster. This disaster has killed thousands or more people than bush fires or even floods.
