US Democratic and most loved American woman political figure Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke to her followers recently on an Instagram live, revealing that she is a survivor of sexual assault.
The Bronx congresswoman was hysterically weeping as she revealed the trauma she had faced from last month’s Capitol riot.
She declared that she is a survivor of sexual assault and hasn’t told anyone in her life about it yet. During the inauguration or any ceremony, she has not said anything about the attack or her personal assault.
She also stated that during the Capitol attack, she was hiding in the bathroom stall, saying she was terrified for her life thinking she was going to die. She even feuded with conservatives on Twitter who were denying any responsibility for the Capitol riot which killed five people.
As the congresswoman was hiding in the bathroom in her office, she saw a glimpse of a man storming into her office shouting “where is she? Where is she?”
Although the man was later identified as a member of the law enforcement, he was angry and hostile. He was a Capitol Police officer. Ms. OC and some of the staff with her didn’t know whether he was there to help or attack them.
She also stated that when someone undergoes trauma, admitting it is the biggest step they can take. She was also disappointed with the amount of hate she was getting post the event and with people saying that she was lying about the whole event.
She was devastated with the amount of hate she was getting after the event. It had led her to be more traumatized than she was before.
However, she had used her social media to help encourage victims to share their stories and become stronger individuals. She also stated that there is always a kind and caring adult who will help.
