Due to strong winds, hot temperatures, and dry vegetation, there is a risk of fire in parts of the Western U.S. expected this week.
On Friday, in Arizona, the Bighorn Fire in the Coronado National Forest grew to at least 8,950 acres with 10% containment. In Southern California and Colorado, there were a couple of other smaller fires reported.
On Saturday afternoon, the humidity values are likely to fall as low as 5% and winds gust are expected in parts of Northern Arizona upto 50 mph near Flagstaff. In that region, blowing dust would also be another issue.
Along the borders of New Mexico, Colorado and Utah, there is a possibility of experiencing dry thunderstorms. This even means there are chances of experiencing lightening that could spark other fires too.
On Saturday, the other parts of the region will remain hot. In the Southern half of Arizona, the temperatures will shoot up in triple digits.
This threat will continue till Sunday. Apart from this, there is a flood threat in the Eastern Coast in the upcoming week.
Parts of Florida and Georgia were issued a flash flood as thunderstorms with heavy rain affecting parts of Southeast, thunderstorms from Tampa, to the North Carolina and Virginia border.
The storms are causing fires at stalled frontal boundary that is around the immediate Southeast coastline. This weekend, the stationary front will not move. Hence, storms will continue to develop in this region and bring rounds of heavy rain and many areas would be flooded.
On Sunday, in the Appalachians, a new low pressure will form and bring heavy rainfall to parts of West Virginia, Virginia and Ohio.
North and South Carolina are likely to experience gusty thunderstorms, heavy rains along the along the North and South Carolina coastline. Apart from this, you can expect heavy rains in the Appalachians from West Virginia to South Carolina.
According to the forecast, in parts of Carolinas through this week there would be 6 inches rain resulting in floods.
