The Hind Rattan Award 2020 for the outstanding services , contributions and achievements in the field of Environmental Science is awarded to Dr Brahma Dutt Vishwakarma who is Marie Curie Research Fellow in the School of Geographical Sciences.

Dr Vishwakarna’s most recent research was usage of Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellite data for the estimation of the change in the water mass in river basins and ice-sheets in order to understand various physical processes which drive the contemporary rise in the sea level.

He has also developed data processing methods for minimizing damage in the signal which occurs due to filtering of noisy GRACE satellite data. The Hind Rattan Award which Dr Brahma Dutt Vishwakarma has received is one of the highest diasporic awards which is granted annually Non-Resident Indians (NRI) by the NRI Welfare Society of India.

Dr Vishwakarma has been invited on January 25 in order to receive the award at the 39th International Convention of NRIs in New Delhi.
