The cyclone Mekunu that has destroyed Southern Oman and Yemini Island kille three Indians among 11 after aggravation from category one cyclone to category two cyclone on Friday with gusty winds up to 170 kilometers per hour.

“Indian Embassy Team in Salalah has confirmed that as per Royal Oman Police, mortal remains of one (Shamsher Ali) of two missing Indian have been found and the search for the other (Madhu) is underway. There is no report of casualty among other expatriates,” the Indian Embassy in Muscat tweeted.

It further said, “Indian Embassy is taking care of 50 Indian dhow.”

The Embassy officials sojourned the encampment at Taqah in Salalah and arranged food for 460 people of 145 Indians and 315 Bangladeshi nationals.

According to Salalah port regime, four Indian certified dhows have been sunk alongside the port and each Indian crew is safe and sound. The death toll has reached to eleven, on Islands it remains seven with five Yemenis and two Indian sailors while eight Indian sailors remain nonexistent.
